Rome's anti prostitution brigade on hunt for prostitutes
It’s a night’s work for Rome’s anti-prostitution brigade. They are on the look-out for suspicious behaviour and anyone caught soliciting is slapped with a 200 euro fine. Fredercio Putti, Police Officer, Rome, "The problem is in Italy, there is still no national anti-prostitution law."
Prostitutes and clients being fined for their behaviour
Mirela, Roumanian prostitute, "We have less work now and we do not know if we will be able to continue working." Since the capital’s right wing mayor issued the decree banning prostitution in public places, hundreds of prostitutes and their clients have been fined.
Prostitution still to be allowed as a private business
In January a new law is expected to replace the decree but that order also will not totally ban prostitution. It will still be allowed as a private business.
