It’s the largest exhibition ever mounted of Salvador Dali, outside of the artist's native Spain. 270 works plus hundreds of documents, photos and other mementos from the painter.
An exhibition to trek through Dali's life
The retrospective is exhaustive, taking up three floors of the Sakip Sabanci museum. A walk through its many rooms is to trek through Dali’s life. Here, there’s a taste of the Dalí Theatre-Museum in Spain. Then visitors meet Gala, the artist’s muse before moving on to illustrations of Don Quixote, which have never been exhibited to the general public before.
Museum hopes to get more visitors
The curtain will fall on the Dali exhibition next January but for the next four months, the Sabanci museum hopes to get more than a quarter of a million visitors, rivaling its 2006 blockbuster Picasso exhibit.
