The reclusive country is paranoid the US and its allies in Asia, South Korea and Japan, want to overthrow the regime. Across the border, China has remained a loyal ally to North Korea despite some tensions over its nuclear ambitions and long-range missile tests.

North Korea continue to have the support of China, and China is not likely to pull the plug on North Korea or invade it and change the leadership. China has veto power within the UN security council, it is unlikely there will be any new sanctions imposed on North Korea for its most recent rocket launch.But its aid donations that could suffer amid concerns the regime is placing military advancement over the plight of its hungry people.
