Haiti victims search the debris for precious objects One month after the devastating earthquake, Port-au-Prince residents are trying to piece their lives back together. As bulldozers clear rubble, quake victims move in to scavenge for wood, bricks and metal -- anything that can be used to build new homes.
Bulldozers clearing rubble off the streets Celsio Lopez, Dominican Bulldozer driver says "We're putting all the rubble over there and trying to reassemble objects here so we can clear the site where the police station was."
Scavenging through rubble for salable objects Edmond Dimanche, craftsman says "There's lots of scrap metal here and other objects. We make a little bit of money out of it - maybe five or six Haitian dollars."
Building life from scratch needs iron
Madame Jimmy's scrap recycling workshop Beatoni Blaise, Workshop supervisor says "This metal rod all twisted, but we're going to try to rework the metal and make chairs, tables, gates, maybe doors..."
