#Videocrux - Remembering the Concorde crash
Remembering the Concorde crash It was a decade ago but residents of the French town of Gonesse still remember the fireball that descended upon them as a supersonic Concorde jet fell from the sky. Many who witnessed the crash in July 2000 still live in the shadow of the wreck site.
Plane crashed near Charles-de-Gaulle airport The jet took off in flames from Paris Charles de Gaulle airport and crashed shortly afterwards, killing 113 people.
Survivor recalls the experience Patrick Tesse owned the hotel just next door, the Relais Bleus, and saw Concorde come down. A decade later and July 25th, 2000 is still etched in his memory. He was working in his office at the time, the window open.
People still traumatised by the incident The blaze was so intense, Patrick knew there was little chance of any survivors. All 109 people onboard the plane died, along with four others in the hotel. Patrick is still traumatised to this day.
Some Gonesse residents felling lucky
Concorde's crash site up for auction The land where the plane crashed has been put up for auction but there are still no buyers. Gonesse is now synomous with the Concorde crash. Following the accident, the supersonic jet was shut down but here in this town, the psychological scars remain.
