Using leftovers for biogas
Every night, she liquidises the leftovers before dumping them into her special "biogas" container. When it decomposes, the organic waste gives off methane which Sabah uses for cooking -- It’s good for the environment AND the wallet

Sabakh lives here in Mansheyat Nasser, a poor neighbourhood on the outskirts of Cairo, which used to have a chronic garabage problem. The biogas project was initiated by an American engineer, who brought in the special airtight container as well as solar panels.

Everyone is involved in the project
"They wanted to use aluminum containers for the biogas processor but they are expensive. They took on my suggestion to use recycled containers instead and it worked." So far, the project is still small but the association hopes to expand it to other impoverished areas.
