Hundreds of thousands of people are expected at the Notting Hill Carnival in west London on Monday, a celebration of Caribbean culture that has become Europe's biggest street party. The two-day even comes to a climax in London on Monday in a dazzling Caribbean-themed spectacle of costumes, dance and music.

Notting Hill Carnival is an annual event which since 1964 has taken place on the streets of Notting Hill, London, UK each August, over two days It is led by members of the Trinidad and Tobago (Trini) Caribbean population, many of whom have lived in the area since the 1950s. The carnival has attracted up to 2 million people in the past, making it the second largest street festival in the world after the Trinidad and Tobago Carnival held in that country.

Jerk is a style of cooking native to Jamaica in which meats are dry-rubbed or marinated with a very hot spice mixture called Jamaican jerk spice. Jerk seasoning is traditionally applied to pork and chicken. Jerk chicken is said to be at its best when barbecued over aromatic wood charcoal or briquettes.
